The carbon is core electron binding energy is shifted to slightly lower energies relative to graphite for all four acceptor GICs, largely on account of a Fermi level shift to lower energy upon oxidative intercalation. The shifts in binding energies for the C 1s core electron are compared to those of various fluorinated graphites and to shifts reported previously for related acceptor GICs. In addition, the O 1s, F 1s, and S 2p3/2 XPS spectra are reported. Comparison to those of simple ionic salts formed by the intercalate anions allows an estimation of the Fermi level shift in the acceptor GICs.}, keywords = {FLUOROSULFATE DERIVATIVES, GOLD, HSO3F}, isbn = {0992-4361}, url = {://A1992JJ79200027}, author = {Xia, J. and Hu, H.
