Abstract

{The reaction of Ru3(CO)12 with P[C6H5Cr-(CO)3]2Bu(t) affords the benzynechromium tricarbonyl derivative Ru3(CO)8[mu3-C6H4Cr(CO)3][mu(3)-PBu(t)] (5). The aryne is bound symmetrically to the closed Ru3 cluster, and the eta(2)-bound carbon atoms are four-electron donors. In addition, there is a Ru –> Cr bond of length 2.920 (1) angstrom. 5: monoclinic, P2(1)/a
