The Department of Chemistry is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Eva Nichols as an Assistant Professor in the area of Inorganic Chemistry. She will join the department in August 2020.
Dr. Nichols completed her PhD in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkley, where she examined the role of second coordination sphere groups in promoting electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction and developed hybrid bio-materials platforms for artificial photosynthesis. She went on to a position as a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University where she used infrared spectroscopy to study the potential dependence of proton transfers at electrode interfaces.
The Nichols group at UBC will focus on merging synthetic chemistry, materials interfaces, and biology with electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques. The group will aim to study electrocatalysts for applications in sustainability, as well as bio-materials interfaces relevant to human health.
