UBC Chemistry Professor Laurel Schafer has been awarded the Schlenk Lecture Award from the University of Tübingen (2021).
The Schlenk award is an International award that is awarded every 2 years. It is sponsored by BASF and offers the opportunity for the Awardee to spend a few weeks in Tuebingen, including a visit to the BASF site in Ludswighafen, Germany. Prof. Wilhelm Schlenk who spent the later years of his career at the U. Of Tuebingen, invented techniques and glassware for completing chemistry while avoiding air. These techniques are critical in modern chemistry and have been adopted globally. More info here>
