Properties and emissions of aerosols from the transportation sector

Principal Investigator:
Research Area(s):

The transportation sector (ships, trains, and trucks) is a significant contributor to poor air quality (e.g., aerosol) and climate change (e.g., greenhouse gases and aerosol) in Canada and globally. Decarbonization pathways such as new fuels (e.g., biofuels), new technologies, and new operating procedures could simultaneously address these problems. Together with industrial partners and UBC collaborators, we are quantifying the properties and emissions of aerosols from the transportation sector and how these properties and emissions change with fuel type, technology, and operating procedures.
